I can painfully relate to this, Jon.
I was taking advanced music theory in high school, as well as jazz band and choir, I even wrote a few albums and did the soundtrack to an indie video game.
But, at the same time, I wanted to learn more about other fields like mathematics, design and journalism.
I felt as though I couldn’t be an expert in anything if I spread myself too thin. I also felt as though people wouldn’t take anything I did rather seriously if I claimed myself to be all these different things.
I know this probably sounds silly coming from somebody so young, but it feels as though no matter what you do, you end up pinning yourself in a particular field no matter what.
